Google has added the capabilities of Gemini to many of its platforms and services. Now, the company has announced that the AI chatbot’s capabilities are coming to some other platforms. Google had already revealed Gemini integration for videocamere Nest in August, namely AI descriptions and smarter camera history search. Now, however, the company has confirmed details on the availability of these features.
Google’s examples suggest that the AI descriptions are a major improvement over the descriptions currently used in Nest cameras:
For example, instead of the usual label “animal or activity detected,” the AI-generated description could be “dog is digging in the garden.”
Meanwhile, Google says that smarter searching through camera history means you’ll be able to ask questions like “Did the children play in the yard this afternoon?” o “Did a delivery truck come through here today?”
The Google Home app will also be able to give suggestions for automations based on the devices in your home and how they are used. Either way, this seems like a great way to simplify overall automation. Obviously all these new features are currently only available in the US United States and there is no information on a global release.
