Netanyahu vows ‘harsh response’ to Golan Heights attack: 297th day of war

The Israeli prime minister promised on Monday, during a visit to Majdal Shams, a “severe response” to the rocket attack that killed on Saturday. 12 children and teenagers in that city in the Golan Heights Syrians, largely annexed by Israel.

“These children are our children. The State of Israel will not and cannot allow this to happen. our response will come and it will be severe“, declared Benjamin Netanyahu.

The Israeli military said the rockets were fired from Lebanon by the Iran-backed Islamist movement Hezbollah and landed on a makeshift football pitch where many young people were playing. Hezbollah denied being behind the deadly attack.

Os 12 confirmed dead were aged between 10 and 16 years old and dozens of other young people were injured, according to local authorities.

The Israeli government’s Security Cabinet has left the response to Saturday’s attack in northern Israel to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.
