Netflix cancels yet another queer series

Netflix has just made its decision: Kaos will unfortunately not have a season 2. The series, with many queer characters, therefore ends after only 8 episodes.

Olympus has just closed its doors with a bang, and it’s far from good news. Netflix has therefore rendered its sentence concerning Kaosone of the queerest series of 2024: the latter will not see a season 2, despite enthusiasm from the public and critics alike, for this production which dynamites Greek mythology, by imagining a paranoid Zeus facing three mortals, destined to knock him off his pedestal.

A new recruit to the cemetery of queer series

Warrior Nun, Sense8, First Kill, Smiley, Q-ForceKaos is now added to the long list of series with LGBTQIA+ characters and casting that Netflix has unceremoniously canceled. After only 8 episodes, this dive into modern Greek mythology must therefore bow out and join the cemetery of queer productions unfairly shelved by the streaming giant.

It is all the more disappointing that Kaos was canceled, since the last episode ended on a cliffhanger, which totally called for a sequel for Zeus, Eurydice, Hades and the others. It must be said that Charlie Covell, who created the series, was already imagining three seasons for his latest production, which occupied Netflix’s top 10 for several weeks after its release at the end of August 2024.

The American media Variety, who confirmed the newsalso shared the content of an Instagram post from actress Aurora Perrineau, who plays Eurydice (or Riddy). In this message, since deleted, the actress announced the cancellation of Kaos and revealed the impact of the series on his life:

“When I was cast in this role, I couldn’t believe that someone had actually SEEN me, as a young minority woman, but more importantly a survivor of sexual abuse. I couldn’t believe that anyone would think that I could be the lead actress in a series, have power, my own mission, and be desirable enough to be the object of affection, not of one incredible human being, but two? Did I deserve this? (…) Thank you for allowing me to be your Riddy. I experienced the most beautiful moment of my life. »
