Many people – not only in Poland – are moving away from linear television, more often choosing VOD services instead, of course with fiber optics, to be able to watch their favorite films and series without any obstacles or restrictions. Play chose such a set in its Christmas offer this year.
Interestingly, we can choose from two streaming services with movies and series – Netflix and Amazon Prime. Therefore, there are also four fiber optic options.
- Offer for fiber optics without VOD – in a 12-month contract,
- Fiber optic offer with Netflix – in a 12-month contract,
- Fiber optic offer with Amazon Prime – 24-month contract,
- Offer for fiber optics without VOD – without obligation.
At what prices? Let’s check, because this seems to be an attractive offer in every variant – comparing it with the current prices for fiber optics only from other operators.
In terms of clarification, for the sake of simplicity and clarity of the entry, we will focus on prices for new customers who are not currently using other Play offers. I would only like to point out that Play customers can deduct PLN 20 per month from the prices given below, in each option except the no-obligation offer. What is more important, in each variant we have a router included in the price, which is not currently a market standard – you often have to pay extra for the lease of about PLN 5 per month.
Fiber optics at Play – no obligation
The no-obligation offer should be of interest to people who rent apartments to someone. However, do not skip this post after reading this offer, because due to the fine print under this offer, other options will also be beneficial, if not more beneficial, for you.
We have four fiber optic packages to choose from, with speed limits of 300 Mb/s, 600 Mb/s, 1 Gb/s and 5 Gb/s in some locations, priced at PLN 75, PLN 85, PLN 105 and PLN 135 per month, respectively.
What about the fine print? Well, even though it is a no-obligation offer, after 12 months the subscription price increases by PLN 5 per month, and each subsequent year by another PLN 5 per month.
I know that apartments are usually rented for at least a year, but in the case of longer periods, this must be taken into account. Alternatively, consider the contract and count on negotiating the same conditions for the next commitment period.
Fiber optics in Play without VOD – in a 12-month contract
This offer will be a good price comparison to offers with Netflix or Amazon Prime included.
The fiber optics themselves, with the same speed limits in a 12-month contract, cost PLN 65, PLN 75, PLN 95 and PLN 125 per month.
So it’s PLN 10 less per month than under a no-obligation contract, but here again the caveat is that after a year, each subscription increases by PLN 10 per month, and in each subsequent year by PLN 5 per month.
Fiber optics in Play with Amazon Prime – in a 24-month contract
It is much more advantageous to sign a 24-month contract, because the price for each package is the same as in a 12-month contract, but the set includes access to Amazon Prime for the entire contract.
I know that Amazon Prime costs only PLN 49 per year, but over a two-year period it will be almost PLN 100, so you will pay PLN 5 less per month for the fiber optics themselves – respectively, for each speed it will be PLN 60, PLN 70, PLN 90 and PLN 120 zloty. In addition, 2 months free of charge at a speed of up to 600 Mb/s gives an average of PLN 68.75 per month, up to 1 Gb/s – PLN 87.10, and up to 5 Gb/s – PLN 114.60.
In this case, if we do not extend the contract, the subscription amount increases only after 24 months by PLN 10 and in each subsequent year by PLN 5 per month.
Fiber optics in Play with Netflix – in a 12-month contract
Finally, we return to the 12-month contract and an attractive option for Netflix fans, which currently costs PLN 33 per month in the basic package.
Together with Play fiber optics, with speeds up to 300 Mb/s you will currently pay only PLN 80 per month for such a set, up to 600 Mb/s – PLN 90 per month, up to 1 Gb/s – PLN 110 per month, and up to 5 Gb/s – PLN 140 PLN per month. Mathematically, the cost of Netflix alone is only PLN 15 per month for the entire contract.
Here, similarly to the 12-month contract without VOD, after a year the subscription amount increases by PLN 10 per month, and after each subsequent year by PLN 5 per month.
However, it should be remembered that these subscription increases after the commitment period only apply to people who do not want to extend/sign a new contract and will switch to a contract for an indefinite period.
