BMW M Motorsport announces its new M2 Racing (G87) racing car with several new images for the 2026 season.
It will be a while before the camouflage comes off as the new race car is still in its infancy. BMW M Motorsport says this car is still in development. Additional details will be revealed in due course, but we do know that it will sit underneath the M4 GT4 model.
Considering the race car won’t compete until 2026, it could be based on the future BMW M2 CS. The road-going M2 CS (Competition Sport) should hit the market next year as a special limited edition (it will have 530 hp, rear-wheel drive, an automatic transmission and slightly less weight).
However, some sources suggest that the race car is based on the regular M2. However, there is still a long way to go before the end of development, so some things could change before the official debut.
