New Apple Immersive Video movies, shows, concerts and more coming to Apple Vision Pro on July 18

Apple Vision Pro users will be able to enjoy stunning programs, movies and other productions on a variety of topics – from action and adventure films, documentaries, music and directed programs, to sports and travel.

Starting this week, Apple will release new movies and shows recorded in the Apple Immersive Video format. They will be available exclusively on Apple Vision Pro. Apple Immersive is an incredible storytelling technology that uses 180-degree 3D video in 8K resolution and surround sound to transport viewers into the action.

Boundless, a new show that takes viewers on incredible journeys anywhere, debuts today, July 18, at 6:00 p.m. (PT) with an episode about hot air balloons. The new season of the documentary Wild Life will take viewers closer to some of the most impressive creatures on Earth and premieres in August. September will be followed by Elevated, a series about air travel that showcases iconic views from dizzying heights.

Later this year, viewers will be able to experience exclusive immersive performances from world-renowned artists, starting with The Weeknd. Submerged, the first Apple Immersive short film, will also be available. It was written and directed by Academy Award winner Edward Berger. Viewers will also be able to watch highlights and behind-the-scenes coverage of the 2024 NBA All-Star Weekend, as well as the first installment of Red Bull’s new Big-Wave Surfing sports show. “Apple Immersive Video is a breakthrough in storytelling, delivering a truly immersive experience for Apple Vision Pro users,” said Tor Myhre, Apple’s senior vice president of Marketing Communications. “From soaring over Hawaiian volcanoes to surfing the big waves off the coast of Tahiti to watching the world’s greatest artists and athletes perform from a whole new perspective, Apple Immersive Video revolutionizes the way people experience places, stories, sports and more, making them feel like they’re actually there. This technology represents a new era of visual storytelling, and we’re thrilled to be bringing it to even more people around the world.”

Boundless

Boundless takes viewers on adventures they could only dream of and introduces them to inspiring characters and incredible locations. In the episode “Hot Air Balloons,” viewers will soar through the skies to the otherworldly landscape of Cappadocia, Turkey. The next episode, “Arctic Surfing,” will air in the fall, following a group of intrepid surfers who traveled to the icy north of the Arctic Circle to search for icy waves.

Wild Life

In August, Apple will release the second episode of the Wild Life series, which will take viewers to the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust in Kenya, a sanctuary for orphaned elephants where they are cared for by their caretakers, where the animals can romp in mud baths and find family in the form of their fellow elephants, the staff and the wild elephants that live in the surrounding areas. Also planned for this year is a trip to the Bahamas, where viewers will be able to travel with a group of daring divers to the depths, come face to face with predators and discover creatures that are much more complex than they are often portrayed.

Elevated

September will see the premiere of the aerial adventure series Elevated, which will take viewers over volcanoes, climb waterfalls and admire them from above, and explore the unimaginable natural wonders of the world’s longest island chain, Hawaii. In a follow-up episode later this year, viewers will experience a cool New England fall and take a magnificent journey along its windy coastline, as well as view the stunningly beautiful rivers of the region from above.

Submerged

Submerged, the first short film in the Apple Immersive Video format, will premiere this fall. It’s an action-packed World War II story that transports viewers aboard a submarine as its crew struggles to survive a torpedo attack. Written and directed by Academy Award winner Edward Berger, Submerged showcases the unique storytelling capabilities available only with Apple Immersive Video on Apple Vision Pro.

2024 NBA All-Star Weekend

This fall, basketball fans will have a unique perspective on the 2024 NBA All-Star Weekend in Indianapolis, featuring a short, immersive look at the Rising Stars game, the Slam Dunk contest, the first-ever NBA-WNBA 3-point contest with Sabrina Ionescu and Stephen Curry, and the All-Star Game.

Immersive performance by The Weeknd

Apple Music Award and seven-Diamond winner The Weeknd returns to the stage for an immersive performance premiering later this year exclusively on Apple Vision Pro.

Red Bull: Big-Wave Surfing

Viewers will be able to experience the power of the ocean first-hand as they join top surfers as they attempt to balance on the world’s highest waves off the remote coast of Teahupo’o, Tahiti. The film will be made this summer and available later this year.

New tools supporting Apple Immersive Video give filmmakers more options

Apple and Blackmagic Design are working together to help professional filmmakers realize their creative visions with new tools that support Apple Immersive Video, including the new Blackmagic URSA Cine Immersive camera and updated DaVinci Resolve Studio and Apple Compressor. This comprehensive toolkit will be available later this year to bring even more immersive films and content to Apple Vision Pro users around the world.
