The debut new Audi A6 e-tronIngolstadt’s electric flagship available with a 3-volume (Sportback) and station wagon (Avant) body style. A long-awaited model that continues the new naming philosophy of the House of the four rings: even numbers for electric models, odd numbers for models with combustion engines.
The new Audi A6 will therefore be exclusively battery-powered, leaving the new A7 – arriving in 2025 – the task of moving with thermal and electrified units. We now know in detail the new Audi A6 e-tron Sportback and Avant, arriving in September with prices yet to be announced.

The Audi A6 e-tron has a very important role in terms of design: the sedan and station wagon dictate the the reference parameters for the future of the entire range. The lines have remained faithful to those of the 2021 A6 e-tron concept, both front and rear, as we can see by placing the photos side by side.

Worthy of note is the cx (coefficient of aerodynamic drag): the Avant’s 0.21 is in fact the best value in its class. The aerodynamically optimized wheels are available from 19 (standard) to 20 (standard on the S6 e-tron models) and up to 21 inches.
The handles flush with the doors with a grip on the bottom have already appeared on the new A5 and have created some discussion among enthusiasts, between those who praise their success from a design point of view and those who do not find them so comfortable. The charging ports on both sides are very practical. The optional digital exterior mirrors which – unlike the e-tron – can be folded away and are connected to screens positioned higher up in the passenger compartment.

As per Audi tradition, the system lighting It is a very important element and for the first time the four illuminated rings are available (for a fee). There are also LED matrix headlights and rear light clusters with second-generation OLED technology, to create different light signatures, even while moving.

In this regard, Audi emphasizes how the rear light strip is becoming more and more similar to a real display, thanks to the 45 segments per panel. Its task is in fact to allow communication between cars by warning, for example, of the presence of dangers. At the moment there are eight different light signatures available at the front and rear.

The Audi A6 e-tron Sportback and Avant are 4.93 meters long, almost the same as the current combustion-engined A6 (destined for A7 next year). They are 1.92 meters wide, with a wheelbase of 2.94 meters. The Avant is 40 millimeters higher than the Sportback.
The trunk capacity ranges from 502 to 1,422 liters. There is also a 27-liter trunk, which is probably primarily intended for the charging cable. A special feature: it can be opened by sliding the sheet metal.

Audi A6 e-tron, the interior
On board the new Audi A6 e-tron they find the new Panoramic display tilted 11.9-inch Virtual Cockpit and the 14.5-inch infotainment screen. There’s also a new 10.9-inch display for the front passenger and a head-up display with augmented reality, 30% larger than that of the Q4 e-tron. The whole thing is brought to life by the operating system Android Automotive OS.

There is also a new “interaction light” around the dashboard, in the front towards the windshield, which shows, among other things, the battery charge status. Voice control has been significantly improved and can also use ChatGPT.
The new on-board experience is completed by Panoramic glass roof with the possibility of varying the degree of transparency and the Bang & Olufsen sound system with speakers in the headrests, which enable personalized immersive sound.

Audi A6 e-tron, engines, batteries and autonomy
Looking at Audi’s engines A6 e-tron The performance versions have a 270 kW (367 hp) permanent magnet synchronous motor on the rear axle, to go from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.4″ and reach a top speed of 210 km/h.
The top model of the A6 e-tron range is the S6 e-tron with an additional asynchronous motor at the front, for a total of 370 kW (503 hp) and 0-100 in just 3.9″, while the maximum speed is 240 km/h.
Both versions are equipped with a lithium ion battery with a net capacity of 94.9 kWh. The declared range of the Audi A6 e-tron Sportback exceeds 750 kilometers and that of the Avant 720 km. The S6, instead, should reach 670 kilometers. The charging accepts a maximum power of 270 kW, with a declared time to go from 10% to 80% of the capacity in 21 minutes, obtaining 310 kilometers of autonomy in ten minutes.
A versione entry-level with rear-wheel drive and a smaller 83 kWh battery and an A6 e-tron version with four-wheel drive will arrive later in 2025. A new model has also already been announced RS 6 e-tron.

The new Audi A6 e-tron Sportback and Avant can be ordered from September with deliveries scheduled for December 2024. The company has not yet announced prices.
