Let us recall that the Polish government has implemented a similar program before. At that time, it was a project called “My Electrician.” As part of this support, drivers could receive funding to purchase an electric car.

Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz, the current Minister of Funds, announced the arrival of a new subsidy some time ago, together with the inflow of funds from the European Union. At the very beginning, she revealed that it would be a much larger project, offering drivers much more money. It is hard to disagree with this, because around PLN 1.6 billion has been allocated for subsidies, which is almost twice as much as the budget for the previous undertaking.

New subsidies for electric vehicles are to appear this year, probably after the holidays. It is also known in which cases it will be possible to use the subsidy. The Minister of Finance emphasizes that the support is to be intended for ordinary people, not the rich.
They will cover both new and used cars, but not expensive ones. For the former, the threshold has been set at PLN 225,000, and for the latter PLN 150,000. The standard amount of support would be PLN 30,000. Less affluent people could count on slightly more money.

However, this is not the end of important news for drivers.

The tax on combustion cars approved during the rule of Law and Justice has been controversial for a long time. It turned out that the Coalition managed to negotiate changes. The aforementioned fee was to be deleted and replaced with a “climate fee”. As you can imagine, this caused quite a controversy. Drivers dared to say that it would probably be exactly the same thing in a slightly different, misleading package.

The minister strongly denies this. She claims that the climate fee will occur once or when the vehicle is re-registered. It is to apply only to large companies, not ordinary citizens. Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz talks about punishing large corporations that pollute the environment, having large fleets of cars at their disposal.
