The Government delegate in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín Aguirre, has denounced that the Madrid president, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, “prevents” him from speaking during the Constitution Day event that, as he recalled, both administrations had the tradition of organizing it jointly until last year.
In a statement, the Delegation has indicated that, given this situation, it has decided to organize another institutional event for December 4 in the Gallery of Royal Collections, where the 46th anniversary of the Constitution will be commemorated and to which it has invited all institutions. Madrid.
According to him, the decision was taken after the government of the Community of Madrid “has shown its intention to go one step further in its confrontation strategy” with the Government of Spain, preventing the delegate from “taking the floor.” in an event that, until last year, was organized jointly between the two administrations”.
“That is why the Delegation of the Government of Spain in Madrid has made the determination to organize an event in which the spirit of harmony included in the Constitution is reflected,” they have defended.
“An unacceptable step”
In statements sent to the media, Martín has stressed that this is the moment in which institutions have to be focused “on sending messages of unity to citizens”, reiterating the accusation against Díaz Ayuso of breaking the tradition of jointly organizing the event by the Magna Carta. “This year he has even decided to go one step further, which is to silence the voice of the government of Spain in the act of celebrating the Constitution,” he noted.
For the Government delegate, this is “an inadmissible and unacceptable step.” “Freedom for Ayuso, we already know what it means to silence the voice of the Government of Spain in the celebration of the Spanish Constitution”, he said.
In turn, he announced that the Delegation will call a new event for the Constitution in the Gallery of the Royal Collections, where there will be a special memory of the victims of the DANA that especially hit the Valencian Community.
