New DACH boss for Snapchat | OnlineMarketing.de

Snapchat brings Tim Christiansen as the new DACH boss and is increasingly relying on augmented reality. You can find out how his strategy changes the platform and advertising options in the article.

After the departure of Götz Trillhaas, Snap has now gained a new manager for the DACH region in Tim Christiansen. Based in Hamburg, he will lead the strategic development, sales and growth of the community in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The decision for Christiansen underlines Snap’s ambitions to further expand its presence in these markets and thereby open up new growth opportunities.

Experienced manager for strategic development

Christiansen brings extensive experience in digital marketing. He was previously CEO of Eprofessional, a subsidiary of Havas Media, and before that led sales and agency relations as general manager at Media Impact. At Snap, he plans to establish the platform even more strongly as an innovative advertising and communication medium. He would also like to make companies more aware of the diverse possible uses of augmented reality in order to create new advertising formats and interactive experiences.

Ronan HarrisEMEA President of Snap, highlights:

Tim brings the necessary expertise to further expand our business in this important region.

Also Christiansen himself sees great potential:

Snapchat offers great opportunities for advertisers with its creative platform and data-driven solutions.

Snapchat is also using new approaches in the area of community building. Instead of focusing on likes and pure reach, the focus is increasingly on building sustainable relationships between creators and their community. This development is also reflected in the latest platform updates, which are aimed at increasing user interaction and long-term loyalty. You can find out more about this in our interview with Ardawan Okhovat, Partnerships Lead DACH at Snap Inc.

Snapchat continues to grow

Snapchat has more than 18 million monthly active users in Germany and over 850 million worldwide. Originally particularly popular with Generation Z, the platform is also growing among older target groups: 40 percent of German users are over 25 years old. On average, the app is opened 30 times per day, and augmented reality features are a core part of the user experience.

AR technologies are also playing an increasingly important role in the advertising sector. Companies like Zalando, L’Oréal and Samsung rely on Snapchat to strengthen their brand presence with interactive AR campaigns and influence customers’ purchasing decisions. AR try-on technologies in particular help reduce returns and improve the shopping experience.

The continuous development of the platform also includes innovative monetization models for creators. New features like the monetization update help content creators generate income on Snapchat. At the same time, improvements to chat storage have also been introduced: users can now save messages for up to seven days, making communication on the platform more flexible.
