A new survey shows that over half of Danes (52%) exercise alone. And the cell phone?
It is included as both an indispensable training partner and can be a source of frustration – depending on where in the country you look.
But why do the Danes take their mobile phone with them to training, and what are the requirements for the mobile phone?
According to Denmark, Denmark is among the most active countries in Europe EU Commissionand a new study from OnePoll, carried out on behalf of the tech company OnePlus, reveals that every third Dane exercises for 1-2 hours daily. And that is good news, as it is far above the Danish Health Authority’s recommendation of 30 minutes of daily exercise.
The mobile phone plays a central role in the exercise routine of many Danes. But how we use the mobile phone – and which problems we encounter – varies considerably depending on where in the country we live. OnePlus has investigated this further.
See the lists: Copenhageners use their mobile phones during breaks, while the rest of Zealanders go for walks with their mobile phones
Many more Danes have their mobile phone out of their pocket when they exercise. Nationwide, 53% of Danes use their mobile phone for music or podcasts during training, while 12% use it to track their training.
The figures also show that walking (57%), strength training (30%), cycling (26%) and running (17%) are the most popular forms of exercise where the mobile phone is included as a companion.
However, there are big differences in how mobile phones are used in the different regions:
- I Region Zealand49% use the mobile phone while walking, which is higher compared to other regions.
- The capitaltops the list for mobile use during breaks between exercises (42%).
- Central Jutlandhas the lowest proportion who use their mobile phone while cycling (24%).
- Southern Denmarkis the leader in the use of the mobile phone while jogging or running (38%).

According to tech expert, we make these requirements for our mobile phone
According to Thor Gøtz, tech expert and country manager at OnePlus, these frustrations are not surprising. They reflect a market with increasing demand for functionality and reliability in smartphones.
“Our expectations for mobile phones have become significantly higher in recent years. Today, mobile phones must follow us and adapt to our lives – and not the other way around. In other words, the mobile must be functional in all conditions – from keeping the battery running during physical activities without being too heavy on the run, to the screen reacting even when you are soaked and on the move,” says Gøtz.
He points out that even the newest models on the market may have difficulty meeting these requirements. Therefore, OnePlus has started to develop new, innovative functions, for example their AquaTouch technology, which is introduced in smartphones such as the OnePlus 12 and OnePlus Nord 4 – both launched in Denmark earlier this year. AquaTouch is now a central feature throughout the company’s latest product lines, from top to bottom.
“Our AquaTouch has only been on the market for less than a year, so it is not surprising that not all Danes know about our unique technology yet. In short, AquaTouch makes the screen responsive even when both it and your fingers are wet. So regardless of whether you are drenched in sweat or rain, you get rid of the frustrating irritations,” says the country manager and continues:
“We continue to challenge the standards in the industry and are proud to be industry leaders in lightning charging, long battery life and innovative features such as AquaTouch, which set new standards for what a smartphone can do,” concludes Gøtz.
That is why we replace the mobile phone
The study also shows that almost every second Dane (47%) keeps their mobile phone for up to four years before they consider replacing it.
Here, the demand for functionality and reliability is once again emerging in the market. It is the functionality that drives the decision to upgrade, as 51% of Danes will change their mobile phone if the battery starts to fail. In comparison, 41% switch if the model is outdated, and 40% do so if the mobile phone is physically damaged.
Full tank in 26 minutes
OnePlus’ commitment to challenging the standards in the industry is particularly evident in the tech company’s focus on lightning charging and screens with high brightness.
The OnePlus 12 is equipped with a 5400mAh battery that can be fully charged in just 26 minutes – a practical solution for those who need a quick boost before heading out the door. The screen, which reaches a brightness of 4500 nits, ensures that you don’t frown when reading even in bright sunlight.
“We strive to make the technology as functional as possible. And here the mobile phone must be a reliable partner that never disappoints,” says Thor Gøtz. The OnePlus Nord 4 also delivers an impressive battery life with a 5500mAh battery, which in other words provides 5 hours of use after just 5 minutes of charging.
