New documentary zooms in on 20 years of Half-Life 2

There are several questions that arise in the gaming world. What happened to those ET game cartridges? Why was Half-Life 3 cancelled? The beloved Half-Life 2 has existed for 20 years and the team looks back in a documentary. And maybe also forward.

Half-Life 2 has been around for 20 years and that is why several people from game company Valve shed their light on the game and the franchise. In a two-hour documentary you are fully immersed in the world of Half-Life 2. The shooter is about scientist Gordon Freeman who, with his technical gadgets, must save the Earth from the Combine, an alien race. Just like the first part, the game is full of puzzles and shooting, with the famous Gravity Gun, with which you can pull objects towards you from a distance.

Half-Life 2

This classic was released on November 16, 2004 and never got a successor, although gamers continue to hope. In a new documentary, Valve tells a much broader, not so well-known story about the development of the game. Getting hacked, an early version of the game appearing online, running out of money, being sued by the publisher: there’s enough drama to make a movie, although for now it’s kept to a 2-hour documentary that you can watch below :

Valve has now released an update for Half-Life 2, which, among other things, gives you better controls. Each map has also been overhauled to fix bugs, restore content and improve overall quality. You can now also switch between how the game looked when it was released 20 years ago or the style of later episodes. If you want even more detail, you can turn on High Quality mode for all the splendor.

The question of why Half-Life 3 was canceled remains mysterious, although there are rumors that Valve is now seriously working on a successor.
