new engines available and orders opened for the M5

The BMW 5 Series Touring is already expanding its catalog in France with a new 100% electric version, a plug-in hybrid and a micro-hybrid thermal. At the same time, the M5 Touring with more than 700 hp is now available to order.

Presented at the start of the year, the BMW 5 Series Touring continues to sharpen its weapons, particularly in the face of the new Audi A6 e-tron recently presented and available only in electric.

Whether in thermal or electric version, the Series 5 Touring has exactly the same dimensions. Compared to the previous generation 5 Series Touring, it is longer, wider and taller. For the first time, it exceeds 5 meters in length with 5.06 meters, 1.90 meters wide and 1.51 meters high.

A new 100% electric version

In terms of electrics, after the eDrive40 and the M60 xDrive, here is the xDrive40, a second all-wheel drive offering which will be more affordable than the M60 with more than 600 hp. This model is powered by two electric motors developing together a maximum cumulative power of 394 hp and a peak torque of 590 Nm. That’s 54 hp more than the eDrive40 version.
Its battery has a net capacity of 81.2 kWh offering an electric autonomy in WLTP combined cycle varying between 453 and 520 kilometers depending on equipment. The eDrive40 version does better with 489 to 560 km in propulsion. In terms of price, the xDrive40 starts at 83 150 eurosowes 5,400 euros more than the eDrive.

The BMW M5 Touring is available in France

Regarding the hybrid, BMW is introducing the 550e xDrive Touring offering featuring the latest eDrive technology for plug-in hybrid systems combined with a 3.0-liter six-cylinder gasoline engine. The autonomy in electric mode now reaches 82 to 88 kilometers in WLTP cycle for a total power increased to 489 hp. It starts at 85 150 euros. Still on the subject of hybrids, the M5 and its powerful 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 linked to an electric motor is now available to order for 162 050 eurosor 3,000 euros more than the sedan.
Finally, the German station wagon is enriched with an entry-level 520i Touring engine equipped with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 48V mild hybridization technology developing 208 ch.

You will have to pay 64 350 euros to afford it.
