New EPAL tariff adds 33 cents per month for most consumers – Companies

The new tariff of Empresa Portuguesa das Águas Livres (EPAL) comes into force this Friday and represents, for most domestic customers, an increase of 33 cents monthly.

In a statement, EPAL states that the tariffs were approved and updated in accordance with the forecast of the harmonized consumer price index, published by the Water and Waste Services Regulatory Entity (ERSAR) for 2024.

For the majority of EPAL’s domestic customers (around 85%), the price update reflects an increase of 33 cents per month, based on an average monthly consumption of eight cubic meters and a meter of up to 25 millimeters.

The area served by EPAL and Águas do Vale do Tejo covers 91 municipalities and serves 3.5 million inhabitants.

In the statement, EPAL also highlights the social water tariff, aimed at customers most in need, which provides discounts of up to 93%, as well as the family tariff, aimed at families with five or more people.
