New Era – Flight Simulator 2024 will need 64GB of RAM to run perfectly

How did Bill say it then? Is 640KB enough for everyone? He almost hit it, but soon it will be 640GB. But at the same time, some fools claim that 32GB is enough. And even tests will confirm these lies!

I myself have considered doubling my 32GB several times. But I wouldn’t be able to help myself in how I use my machine. But if I were an aviation enthusiast looking forward to Flight Simulator 2024, I’d probably start thinking about 64GB. According to Microsoft, this is the right size for an ideal flight experience. But beware, while the memory requirements have increased manifold, the installation size has decreased by almost 100GB compared to FS 2020. Now, what is the correlation between installation size and memory size?

So and so – FS 2020 stuffed much more data on the disk (approx. 120-150GB) and with all that extra content, the installation folder could eat up to a monstrous 400GB. However, FS 2024 will rely heavily on streaming technology (much more than FS 2020), meaning data will be pulled from servers in real time. With today’s speeds it shouldn’t be a problem, plus only what you can currently see will be dragged. There is no need to download Zimbabwe when you are flying over the Dalskabats. However, you must have some disk space (20GB) as a cache and just enough memory to avoid stuttering, lagging and crashes. So in this case 64GB makes sense. Likely.
