New EU rules will increase the number of electric car chargers

The EU has some clear guidelines on how the charging infrastructure for electric cars should be expanded. One of them will enter into force on January 1, 2025, which will significantly improve the availability of public chargers.

Companies that have a parking lot with more than 20 spaces must offer at least one space for charging. The decision applies to shopping centers, sports halls and similar facilities. The strength of this decision is that it is retroactive, he states HAK magazine.

There is already a requirement that new buildings with more than ten parking spaces must have at least one charging space. From 2027, the requirements will be further tightened. Then there will have to be at least one charging point for every ten parking spaces and advanced infrastructure for at least half of the spaces.
