CES 2025
Acer presented two new gaming handhelds at CES 2025 with the Nitro Blaze 8 and Nitro Blaze 11. While the technical data is partly surprising, the RRP is still missing.
CES 2025 is in full swing. At the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas from January 7th to 11th, numerous manufacturers will once again be present to present the products of the coming technology year. The company Acer is also on board and is launching two new gaming handhelds. These are successors to the console called “Nitro Blaze”, which was released in new portfolio appears in a version with 8 inches and a version with a whopping 11 inches.
This does not change the resolution between the models: both devices use a WQXGA display with 2,560 x 1,600 pixels. The only difference is the refresh rate, which is 144 Hertz for the Nitro Blaze 8 and 120 Hertz for the Nitro Blaze 11. The weight is 720 grams for the smaller handheld, while the 11-inch version weighs 1,050 grams.
Inside there is the identical hardware. An AMD Ryzen 7 8840HS is used as the processor, so Acer has dispensed with the recently introduced APUs with the Ryzen 300 AI series or the Z2 Extreme. There is also no sign of an upgrade in RAM size: Both the Nitro Blaze 8 and the Nitro Blaze 11 have the 16 GB RAM of their predecessor, but at least with a higher speed of 7,500 MT/s. Depending on the variation, the storage capacity is up to two TBytes.
In terms of connectivity, Acer has provided the two gaming handhelds with the latest standards: Bluetooth 5.3 is on board, as is Wi-Fi 6E. The wired connections include a USB4 and USB 3.2 Type-C as well as a USB 3.2 Type-A socket. The battery capacity in both models is 55 Wh, but no information about the running time is given. Charging is again carried out using a 100-watt charger. The release is scheduled for the end of the second quarter of 2025, pricing information will follow at a later date.
