Google is currently working on a new Pixel tablet. Unlike its predecessor, the Pixel Tablet 2 will probably get an official keyboard cover.
Google’s new tablet will be equipped with a Tensor G4 or G5 chipset, according to Android Authority. The Android site reports the news based on a source within Google. The new Pixel Tablet 2 would have a new camera, but details are still lacking.
The new chip on board the tablet would ensure that Google will provide the device with software updates for seven years. In addition, the chip would make it possible to connect an external display to the device. That would make the Pixel Tablet 2 more useful for productivity purposes than its predecessor and many other Android tablets.
Google previously removed a cover due to quality issues
The software of the original Google Pixel Tablet is now extensively suitable for accessories that can be used for productivity, such as external keyboards. But there is no official keyboard cover from Google, such as Apple makes for iPads.
That is exactly what Android Authority said would change with the Pixel Tablet 2. Google is working on a keyboard cover that can be connected to a connection on the back of the tablet. It is said to be a fairly simple cover, about which little is known. The Google source tells the site that the tech company was already planning to launch such a cover with the first Pixel Tablet, but ultimately decided not to do so due to quality issues.
The Pixel Tablet 2 will probably be launched in 2025, but it is not clear exactly when. We also don’t know anything about the price yet. The design will probably not be very different from that of the first Google Pixel Tablet.
