New government takes office in Jordan

The 14th Prime Minister of the reign of King Abdullah II Hassan‘s cabinet includes Foreign Minister Ayman al-Safadi from the former government 14 ministers retained their seats. In the new cabinet list, together with the prime minister Names of 32 ministers Hassan previously served as Director of the Jordanian Royal Court.

In the elections held in Jordan on September 10, 1,623 candidates from 197 local and general lists across the country competed for 138 seats in the House of Representatives, the lower house of parliament. The parliament in Jordan consists of two chambers: the House of Representatives, which is elected, and the Senate, whose members are appointed by the King.
