Intel plans to launch a new generation of Arc Battlemage graphics cards, which could come as early as December. Heading into the middle class.
Intel is preparing to launch the second generation of its Arc Battlemage desktop graphics cards, which should arrive as early as December 2024. Although details on specifications, performance and pricing are still unclear, well-known leaker Golden Pig Upgrade has hinted that the Battlemage will offer amazing performance. The new cards should be aimed at the middle and lower class, while not competing with the flagship models of competitors from AMD and Nvidia.
The Arc Battlemage will replace the first generation Alchemist, which was launched in 2022. The most powerful Alchemist model, the Arc A770, was around the level of Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 graphics cards, which suggests that the new Battlemage will also be aimed more at the lower and mid-range segment of the market.
According to the information so far, the Battlemage series should consist of the BMG-G10, BMG-21 and BMG-31 models. The most powerful model, the BMG-G10, is unlikely to be sold to the general public. The most anticipated model is the BMG-31, which should offer solid performance for regular users at a reasonable price.
Intel, like AMD with the upcoming RDNA 4 graphics cards, is probably targeting the mainstream, i.e. customers who do not demand top performance for the most demanding applications. While Intel has faced supply issues with Alchemist and low market share, the new Battlemage cards are expected to arrive in time for the Christmas season, which could help the firm regain some market share.
