In June 2024, MINI presented the new 5-door Cooper, and is now revealing further details on the Cooper S version, which is powered by a 150 kW/204 hp four-cylinder petrol engine. The car is available in four setups: Essential, Classic, Favourite and JCW (John Cooper Works), with prices ranging from 32,900 euros up to 40,240 euros for the top of the range version.

The new MINI Cooper S 5 door measures 4,036 mm in length, 1,744 mm in width (1,970 mm with mirrors) and 1,464 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,567 mm. Compared to the 3-door versionis 172 mm longer and has a 72 mm longer wheelbase, thus offering more interior space for passengers. The trunk has a capacity of 275 literswhich increases to 925 litres with the rear seats folded down (60:40 split). The weight of the car is 1,355 kg. Depending on the trim, you can have 17 to 18-inch wheels.

The interior of the new MINI Cooper 5-door takes up the design of the 3-door version, characterised by a dashboard dominated by a 9.4-inch circular OLED display. This screen displays all the vehicle information and manages the digital functions of the infotainment system based on the platform MINI Operating System 9The upper part of the display shows vehicle information, while the lower part allows you to select menu items such as Navigation, Media, Phone and Climate.
Physical elements such as the parking brake, gear selector, start/stop buttonexperience mode and volume control functions are accessible via a distinctive toggle switch strip. The centre console offers more space to store smartphones, which can be charged via wireless charging.
The MINI Cooper S 5-door also includes the MINI Digital Key Pluswhich turns your smartphone into a key. When the driver approaches the car within three meters, the welcome headlight projections are activated and the doors open automatically within one and a half meters. The digital key can be transferred to multiple users, making car sharing easier.
In the Favoured settingthe instrument panel features a two-tone houndstooth pattern that extends to the door trims. The perforated vescin sport seats are available in Nightshade Blue and Beige, with traditional stitching.
Under the hood 204 HP
The new MINI Cooper S 5-door adopts a 150 kW/204 hp four-cylinder petrol engine and a torque of 300 Nm. Performance figures include a top speed of 242 km/h and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds. Combined fuel consumption is 6.8 – 6.3 l/100 km, with CO2 emissions of 152 – 141 g/km according to the WLTP cycle.
MINI has paid particular attention to the experience of driving and safetyequipping the car with numerous ADAS systems that support Level 2 assisted driving. Thanks to 12 ultrasonic sensors and four Surround View camerasthe Parking Assistant Plus precisely identifies parking spaces and independently initiates manoeuvring into tight spaces.
