New mouse, keyboard and trackpad. Apple is preparing changes, but unfortunately nothing major

Next week, Apple will introduce the new generation of its computers, the iMac, Mac mini and MacBook Pro. All of them will be powered by the M4 chip, and the Mac Mini will also boast a major redesign. Along with them, they will probably introduce new Magic accessories at the same time, although in his case there is nothing to look forward to.

Apple accessories will get other ports

References to a “new” Magic Mouse 2, Magic Trackpad 2, as well as an updated Magic Keyboard appeared in iOS 18.1 RC and pointed out on them by Aaron Perris on the X social network.

In the current macOS build, they differ from the current models only by the “.usb” extension. The system will even use current icons for accessories. This suggests that Apple will not actually release a new accessory with a new design and features, but simply add a USB-C port.

Almost unchanged for 10 years

In addition to the Magic Keyboard, which was updated in 2021 along with the M1 iMac, it’s been almost 10 years since Apple updated the Magic Mouse and Trackpad, and they’re technically already version 2. This is how Apple refers to the Lightning version that hit the market in 2015. In the meantime, the competition literally overtook Apple.

Products lack innovation

Considering that for the Magic Mouse, which is the cheapest of the three accessories, in its e-shop Apple wants three thousand crowns without ten crowns, for the Magic Trackpad you will pay 4,390 crowns and for the Magic Keyboard even 5,890 crowns, the mere addition of USB-C is literally a mockery. While this is certainly a welcome change, fans of the brand expected much more.
