New Renault pickup truck announced

Renault has announced an investment of 350 million dollars in its Argentinian factory in Cordoba. These funds will be used to organize the production of the “new pickup truck”.

It is also stated that the pickup truck will receive a design based on the Renault Niagara concept that was presented last fall (pictured). However, Renault did not specify whether the production model will retain the concept vehicle name.

It is known that the pickup will be based on a modular platform, which is also used by the compact SUV Renault Kardian. Cars on this platform can be not only with internal combustion engines, but also in the form of a mild or full hybrid. Four-wheel drive is also provided. However, the technical characteristics of the pickup truck will be revealed later.

The pickup is likely to hit the production line in the next few years. Vehicles produced in Argentina will also be delivered to other Latin American countries. In this region, the new model is expected to replace the Renault Oroch pickup, which is based on the first generation Duster. The main competitors of the new Renault pickup will be Fiat Toro and Chevrolet Montana. In addition, according to Argentine specialized media, the new truck will also have a sibling from Nissan that will receive its own design.
