The zoo program “Elephant, Tiger & Kids” goes into its second round from mid-October. A new season shows young people doing an internship at the Leipzig Zoo.
The first season of the series “Elephant, Tiger & Kids” was awarded this year at the “Golden Sparrow” television award. Next week, more precisely on October 14th, the second season of the zoo series starts. This is, so to speak, an offshoot of the – according to MDR – the forefather of the zoo documentary soaps “Elephant, Tiger & Co.”. The new season follows six young people during an internship at Leipzig Zoo. Among other things, they are supposed to prepare field hamsters that are threatened with extinction for their release into the wild, give freedom back to wild birds that have been bred in Dresden, and accompany the lynx on its return to the Thuringian Forest. At the Leipzig Zoo, the young people Lina, Emilio, Anuk, Luca, Leonie and Samuel are supposed to discover all facets of Leipzig Zoo and gain unique insights into their dream job as zookeepers.
In addition to getting to know the profession, the six want to learn how they can help save endangered species from extinction. The young people are also confronted with the strenuous side of everyday zoo life. In addition to tasks at Leipzig Zoo, we also go to other places. In Dresden, for example, they care for injured wild birds and help them return to freedom. The internship lasts three weeks and, according to press reports, includes many exciting, funny and emotional moments.
Filming for the third season begins in October
The ten episodes of 24 minutes each of the second season can be seen as their first broadcast from October 14th to October 25th, 2024 from 5 p.m. on KiKA (further reports on KiKA also on DIGITAL TELEVISION). They will then also be shown on Das Erste from October 26, 2024 from 6:00 a.m. From the time of TV broadcast, the episodes of the first and second seasons of “Elefant, Tiger & Kids” are available in the Kika player and in the ARD media library available. Filming for the third season will start in October 2024. Filming will take place again in Leipzig Zoo, Erfurt Zoo and Limbach-Oberfrohna Zoo.
