New smart ring from Oura

Certification leaves a mark on a new generation of smart rings from Oura.

When Samsung launched its Galaxy Ring in early July, Oura’s marketing director stated that Samsung’s entry was confirmation that smart rings were an established part of the market. Now certification documents show that the company is working on a new generation of its smart ring with the model designation OA11, but which will probably be called Oura Ring 4 in everyday life.

It is the publication Android Authority who have received the documents for the certification including attached images of the product. The images briefly show a ring, but also point to the fact that Oura does not seem to intend to change its design more than necessary, but to launch Oura Ring 4 as a completely smooth round ring.

Oura Ring 4 is said to be launched in sizes from size 7 (with inner diameter 17.3 millimeters) up to size 15 (inner diameter 24 millimeters), which points to a shift towards larger sizes than for Oura Ring 3 which came in 2021.

The certification document also mentions a product with the designation OA12, but does not say anything about what it is.

There is no information on when Oura Ring 4 may be unveiled, but Oura Ring 3 was launched in October 2021 so one assumption is that the successor could appear sometime in October.
