Since January 2024, a new system has streamlined the dispatches of the most urgent ambulances in the Capital Region.
The Capital Region states this in a press release.
According to Thomas Reimann, who is director of the Capital Region’s emergency response, the so-called disposition time has fallen from 27 seconds to 1 second during the period the new system has been in use.
It is the process of finding a suitable vehicle and the dispatch that has been automated. The automation currently only applies to so-called a-drives, which are the most urgent and life-threatening drives.
However, the success of the system opens up the possibility that in the future it may be used for less urgent journeys. This is stated by Thomas Reimann.
It is still healthcare personnel who assess whether an ambulance should be dispatched.
The difference is that previously it was the healthcare staff who had to find the appropriate vehicle.
According to Thomas Reimann, the new system reduces the stress for the healthcare staff, who previously had to make a lot of decisions before the vehicle was sent off.
