New Vespa Primavera Batik presented

Vespa Primavera Batik was born from the meeting of distant cultures united by a diverse and rare elegance.

The timeless forms of the Vespa Primavera model are combined with the themes and patterns of Batik, a traditional Indonesian fabric, obtained through exclusive, precious production processes that UNESCO included in its list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

The earliest evidence of the art and technique of batik dates back to the 12th century.

This special fabric, which is printed or hand decorated, always uses beeswax. It originated on the island of Java and was originally used to embellish the clothing of the aristocratic classes, before spreading throughout the Indonesian archipelago. Today, Batik remains a key element of Indonesian culture and is worn everyday, not just for formal events.

Over the centuries, Batik has become the embodiment of a symbolic philosophy as well as a true means of expression, thanks to the traditional designs used, which have different meanings depending on the form or elements they represent. As such, Batik varieties range from Parang Rusak, reserved for nobility, to Savat, a symbol of power, Semena, which evokes symbols of cosmic energy, and Udan Liris, an emblem of fertility.

Batik arrived in Europe in the 19th century, becoming a bridge between Eastern and Western culture; his exotically elegant patterns influenced key styles such as art nouveau, and today the world of haute couture.

Vespa Primavera Batik embraces the universal values of this philosophy to create a special edition that pays tribute to life and joy, travel and discovery. Its primary color, Batik Green, evokes waves crashing on tropical beaches. The more rigorous lines are reminiscent of hidden temples, while the batik decoration unites as many as seven different mystical motifs, originating from the islands of Java, Sumatra and Bali. Among the themes related to the seven different batik patterns that decorate the Vespa are prosperity and the origin of life, strength and longevity, respect for origin, charm and charisma, leadership and wisdom. These values are naturally connected to Vespa, its history and its deep and authentic multiculturalism.

Batik decorations that adorn the Vespa Primavera are applied with water transfer technology, starting with the “cravattino”, a characteristic and recognizable frieze on the front, as well as beautifying the glove compartment opening on the counter shield and extending along the footboard. The seat, light brown with seams in green tones, gives a natural feeling, reminiscent of the colors of sunny beaches.

A matching top case, which can be customized with Batik stickers (available separately) extends the functionality of the Vespa Primavera Batik, adding luggage space and completing the aesthetic of one of the most joyful versions of the Vespa in its long history.
