New Volkswagen Transporter and Caravelle: the 7th generation is here

Volkswagen presents the new generation of models Transporter e Caraveltwo vehicles that combine functionality and innovation, ready to debut at the next edition of the IAA in Hannover, the important international fair dedicated to work mobility, scheduled from September 17th to 22nd. The seventh generation Transporter and its passenger version, the Caravelle, aim to revolutionise the segment with significant improvements in space, payload and towing capacity, while offering a completely redesigned cab for an optimised driving experience.

New Transporter and Caravelle, a wide range of engines

The new range of engines includes turbo diesel engines, ibridi plug-in ed electricavailable with both front-wheel and all-wheel drive. The Transporter will be offered with two wheelbases and two roof heights, and numerous interior configurations, including different bulkhead types and seating options, to meet the needs of both cargo and passenger transport. The variety of configurations makes these models extremely versatile, suitable for commercial use, as a taxi, minibus or family vehicle.

Expected to arrive in showrooms later this year, the new Transporter and Caravelle will be available with seven different engineswith power ranging from 110 to 281 horsepower. Among these, there are three turbodiesel engines (two of which can be combined with 4Motion all-wheel drive), a plug-in hybrid engine and a fully electric proposal, which responds to the needs of those seeking sustainable mobility solutions.

Size increases for Transporter

From a dimensional point of view, the new Transporter stands out for a significant increase: the total length is 5,050 mm, with a wheelbase increased to 3,100 mm, and a width of 2,032 mm without considering the rearview mirrors. This expansion of the dimensions translates into a cargo area with a maximum width between the wheel arches increased by 148 mm, reaching 1,392 mm, and a total cargo volume that reaches 5.8 cubic meters for the version with a normal wheelbase, and up to 9 cubic meters for the one with a long wheelbase.

The Transporter’s payload capacity has been increased to 1.33 tonswhile towing capacity can now reach up to 2.8 tonnes, 300 kg more than the previous generation. These improvements make the new Transporter an ideal vehicle for those who require high loading and transport performance.

Volkswagen has developed three versions of the Transporter to meet all needs: the van dedicated exclusively to the transport of goods, the Kombi which can accommodate up to nine passengersand the double cab version which offers space for six passengers and cargo.

Il Caraveldesigned for passenger transport, will also be available with a long wheelbase and will be offered in the versions Life e Stylewith high-level equipment, including a panoramic roof on request.

The new Transporter and Caravelle mark a significant step forward for Volkswagen in the commercial vehicle segment, focusing on innovation, versatility and a range of engines suited to the needs of modern mobility, while keeping an eye on efficiency and sustainability.
