‘next iPhone models most ambitious ever’

John Ternus, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering and intended successor to CEO Tim Cook, speaks in an internal memo about the next generations of iPhone. According to him, the models from 2025 and beyond would even be the most ambitious iPhones ever.

Apple appears to have set its iPhone plans for the coming years. In an internal memo, John Ternus speaks about the most ambitious products in the history of the American company. While Apple is good at pushing out such marketing, the message is now directed at the engineers within the company.

The memo passes by of Power On-newsletter by Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman. He is the most reliable and best-known source on the market in the Apple field.

What are Apple’s iPhone plans?

Of course, the plans are not described in the internal memo, but it has been known for some time that Apple has major plans. While the iPhone 16 series was barely an improvement in terms of hardware compared to the phones from the year before, it seems to be a completely different story with the iPhone 17.

Apple itself has not said anything about it yet, but rumors have long pointed to an Air or Slim version of the iPhone 17. This model, like the M4 iPad Pro, would be only a few millimeters thin and would upset the current design.

From 2026 onwards, things will become particularly interesting in the screen area. Trusted analyst Ross Young Expect ProMotion and an Always On Display for the standard models from that year and ultimately, from 2026, a notch-free iPhone with the Face ID camera under the screen.

In addition, the iPhone will be in existence for twenty years in 2027 and various sources expect that Apple will take advantage of this opportunity by launching a foldable iPhone. But only time will tell whether that is true.
