Nicolas Turquois, the Modem deputy escorted out of the hemicycle, explains himself

POLICY – “I will apologize”but… The deputy for the Democrats (MoDem) Nicolas Turquois returned this Friday, November 29 to the incident of the day before in the hemicycle. While the debates heated up during the parliamentary niche of France Insoumise on the examination of the repeal of the pension reform, the elected official from Vienne almost came to blows with other colleagues. A gesture that he “regret” but which he justifies by “the methods” of LFI.

In the evening, the ushers of the National Assembly had to intervene to escort Nicolas Turquois out of the hemicycle. The elected official then took on the socialist Mickaël Bouloux. At the microphone of BFMTV, he explained that he had been targeted by France Insoumise for having tabled 85 amendments aimed at blocking their proposed law to repeal the pension reform. “For two days, a list of deputies has been widely distributed by the networks of La France insoumise, including sent to my relatives. That I take responsibility for my political decisions is one thing, that we put pressure on those close to me is another”he denounced on BFMTV.

He says he opened up about it to the socialist Mickaël Bouloux, sitting next to him and who “knows personally” his loved ones. “I asked him what he thought about it, he told me he didn’t agree. I told him it would be interesting to say it, he told me he couldn’t. (…) The subject got out of hand from that moment on”added the elected MoDem.

“Unacceptable methods” of LFI

While the EPR deputies and allies multiplied the – far-fetched – amendments to prevent the timely examination of the LFI proposal on pensions, the Mélenchonist movement responded with, among other things, a campaign for “call out the deputies who want to block the repeal of the pension reform! »including visuals to download, with the face of the MP in question and the number of amendments tabled.

“These are not democratic methods. We don’t make lists, we don’t send them to the relatives of those who are trying to get involved in politics. (…) I will apologize, I lost my temper as one might say. But, he continues, basically there are things that are unacceptable”.

Nicolas Turquois expressed his “ regrets » and asserted that “ obviously » he will apologize to Mickaël Bouloux. What about Antoine Léaument, who believes he failed “ take a donut » ? “I had no desire to beat him up like he said. He first insulted me and so I went to him in a really dynamic way, let’s say that, to explain myself to him », Said Nicolas Turquois, believing that he did not owe an apology to the rebellious MP.
