On Monday, Slovenian show jumpers competed in the competition for the titles of national champions. Nika Prevc (Triglav Kranj) and Anže Lanišek (Mengeš) celebrated in Planica, but on the brink of the championship came bad news: Nika Vodan ended the season early.
After a year off, Lanišek returned to the top and won the third championship title in the last four years. He was the best in both series. The runner-up title went to him Timi Zajc (Ljubno BTC), he was third Domain Prevc (Triglav Kranj). “I took the national championship as a normal race. I know that I work well in training, but I haven’t been able to show it in the World Cup race this year. Even if I was fourth in Neustadt and Garmisch, I know very well that it’s not that. With these I am satisfied with the results, but I know that I have much more in me.” said Lanišek after the new national address.
Lanišek had a convincing lead after the first series ahead of Zajec and last year’s champion Lovro Kosom (Illyria), the fourth was Prevc, and the fifth Žiga Jelar (both Triglav Kranj). In the final, Lanišek and Zajc kept their places, Prevc also climbed the podium.

Awareness of the importance of insurance in Slovenia is increasing year by year
It’s with jumpers Nika Prevc reliably defended last year’s title. She was already in the lead after the first series, before Emo Kid (Norica Žiri) and Tino Erzar (Ihan). Even in the final, the jumpers kept their places, the jury of the competition lowered the runway before the final jumps of Klinec and Prevc. “I really wanted to win reliably, because I need the best possible jumps going forward for the World Cup matches,” thought Prevc, who is defending the big crystal globe in the World Cup, after the second consecutive member victory.
The blockage didn’t go away, something more wrong with the knee
In the meantime Nika Vodan she is not yet ready for new challenges, as she did not appear at the DP, the national team selector Jurij Tepes however, he revealed after the match that the 24-year-old ended the season early due to a knee injury. “On Monday, Niko and I tried to train on the 80-meter diving board, but the pain was too strong. We exhausted all options. Last week, she was also on a block. Given that the block did not settle, we know that the knee is a bit more wrong. Surgery is needed, which means her season is over.” said Tepes.
As the head coach added, he hopes that additional investigations will not reveal anything more serious. “I hope that Nika will return to real training already this season so that she can start the next season together with us. We will wait to see what the doctors say, but there are not many chances that everything will be fine with the knee. All possibilities we exhausted,” he further explained.
