In continuation of the information related to the incidents in Leeds, the United Kingdom, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE), the diplomatic mission and the Consulate General of Romania in Manchester continued communication with the families of Romanian citizens, concerned with measures to take over minors and with community and religious representatives religious, as well as approaches to British local authorities.
Following the steps taken by CG Manchester, the British authorities informed, on Saturday, about the detention of nine Romanian citizens involved in the incidents of the evening of July 18, 2024.

The MAE states that, at this moment, an investigation by the local police authorities is underway, and it is essential to clarify all aspects regarding the incident.
CG Manchester maintains the situation in Leeds as a matter of priority and is prepared to continue to provide consular assistance within its competence, subject to applicable UK law.
