Nintendo is moving beyond its gaming consoles to introduce a playful new piece of hardware – an interactive alarm clock called Alarmo. Designed to make waking up more fun, Alarmo responds to motion and allows users to snooze or stop the alarm with simple gestures or physically getting out of bed.

The device, which will go on sale for $99.99 in early 2025, offers Switch Online subscribers the option to purchase it early through the My Nintendo Store, as the company officially she announced on their website.

Alarmo alarm clock full of sounds from popular games

As with most things Nintendo, the alarm clock promises a touch of whimsy and features soundscapes from popular games such as Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey and Splatoon 3. One of the key selling points of the Alarmo clock is its motion control feature, which uses a 24GHz mmWave sensor and Wi-Fi connection. With a wave of your hand, you can easily snooze the alarm or stop it completely when you get out of bed. This is no ordinary alarm clock, it’s a nod to Nintendo’s playful spirit.

The alarm clock features 35 sound scenes from five different Nintendo Switch games, with additional sounds from Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe coming later as free updates. Each scene allows users to wake up to sounds and music straight from their favorite Nintendo adventures. In addition to the fun alarm sounds, Alarmo includes several useful features to improve your sleep habits. The device tracks your movements during the night and allows users to check how much they toss and turn in their sleep.

Playful wake-up modes

Alarmo also offers different wake-up modes. In stable mode, the alarm sound will get louder the longer you stay in bed, while gentle mode will keep the volume constant. For those who prefer the classic touch-off, there’s a button mode that allows users to manually press the snooze button. At night, users can also set sleepy sounds to help them fall asleep to soothing music.

Although it looks simple at first glance, Alarmo is packed with features that make it more than just a novelty. When you link it to your Nintendo Account, you can enjoy updates like additional soundscapes or customize the hourly ringtone to match your preferred game themes. For Nintendo fans, these hours are a chance to fill everyday life with the worlds they love, whether you wake up to the call of adventure in The Legend of Zelda or the bustling city sounds of Mario Kart.

Nintendo is more than just a console

Nintendo’s announcement of the Alarmo comes as the company focuses on more than just its next console. Following the release of The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom and the opening of the Nintendo Museum in Kyoto, Alarmo is part of a wider effort to keep Nintendo at the forefront of fans’ everyday lives. With its charming design and interactive features, Alarmo is set to be a hit with anyone who wants to add a little Nintendo magic to their daily routine.
