The series begins with Skyward Sword et bifurcates with Ocarina of Time in two distinct temporalities, depending on whether the Hero of Time, Link, beat Ganondorf or not.

We thus learn that the last opus of the saga takes place in the universe of the Defeat of the Hero of Time, between the episodes Tri Force Heroes et The Legend of Zeldajust before the Decline of the Kingdom of Hyrule.
