After several rumors, a live-action film adaptation of Zelda was officially confirmed by Nintendo in 2023. Since then, apart from a few details, nothing really concrete has been revealed by the company, whether it be the title, the plot, the casting or the release date. Concerning the latter, we now know a little more.
Nintendo gives a “range” for the release of Zelda
After signing Planet of the Apes: The New Kingdom, the latest installment of the famous science fiction franchise (of which Snoop Dogg is an inveterate fan), Wes Ball will return behind the cameras to shoot the live-action Zelda. This adaptation of the video games of the same name is obviously eagerly awaited by fans, who have already shared their dream casting (with Tom Holland and Emma Watson) online. In addition to various speculations about the plot and the actors of the film, the gamers lack concrete information to put into their mouths… And in particular the release date of the live-actionwhich has still not been announced. However, our colleagues from IGN have just spotter in a financial report from Nintendo some good news on this subject!
Indeed, one of the slides indicates that The Legend of Zelda will be released after the sequel to Super Mario Bros., during the decade, therefore before 2030. So of course, you will tell us that this leaves Nintendo a five-year window to program the adaptation of its famous video game series, but that is already reassuring information. Especially since for the fans, it is better know that the studios are in no hurry : certain licenses transposed to the big screen, sloppy or unfaithful to the original material, proved disappointing. Wes Ball having teased wanting to make a film which looks like “Miyazaki in live action“the result could be incredible. Enough to be patient with your troubles with a little more ease!
