Nintendo announces that they will be releasing a charging dock for Switch controllers, despite the fact that the console is in its final stages and we’ve seen third-party manufacturers create charging docks for the controllers over the years. Given that the Nintendo Switch was launched a full seven years ago and that Nintendo may show off the Switch 2 next year, it remains to be seen how much interest there will be in the new product.
Unlike other wireless controllers that you can charge with a USB Type-C cable, you can only charge a Switch controller by docking it into the console itself. The charging dock has space for two controls and can either lie down or stand upright with the help of a stand. You can also use the charging dock to charge wireless NES controllers.
The charging dock will launch on October 17 and it is currently unclear what it will cost. According to The Verge could the product be part of Nintendo’s last big push on the console ahead of the fall and Christmas sales seasons, along with the Hyrule version of the Switch Lite and The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, which both release on September 26.
