After months of unofficial leaks, Nintendo has finally decided to give everyone what they want. The Nintendo Switch 2 is officially announced, but a lot of questions remain unanswered.
The news was announced only through the first-look trailer, which reveals the body of the entire console in detail, but does not provide more fundamental information. Apparently, the display will increase slightly, and with it the whole body of the console. The docking station will have rounded edges. The main change in the trailer is the Joy-Cons, which attach magnetically.
In the trailer, Nintendo also confirmed a release this year and backwards compatibility with games from the first generation of Switch – and one of the first new games will be the Mario Kart variation featured in the video. Unfortunately, that’s all Nintendo has officially revealed to us.
We will probably find out more information at the upcoming Nintendo Direct, which will take place on April 2nd and will be dedicated to the new console generation. For those who can’t wait, Nintendo has prepared special events around the world where selected players can try the new console for themselves. Registration opens tomorrow, with events in Europe taking place in London, Berlin, Milan, Paris, Madrid and Amsterdam.
Addition: Nintendo declares in the video that selected games may not be fully compatible with the Switch 2, so it is not full backwards compatibility.
