Nissan Qashqai e-Power has broken the Guinness record for the highest bungee jump (bungee jump) when it comes to cars after “jumping” from a height of 65 meters.
The record-breaking feat was filmed in Puteaux, France, where a crane dropped the Qashqai close to tall buildings. To keep everything safe, the car was placed in a special cage. Laurent Lasko, a professional racer and stuntman, was in the driver’s seat the entire time.
Officials from Guinness were present to ensure that everything was as it should be. For the record to be recognized, the car and bungee cord had to remain intact. The “jump” passed without any problems, so the Qashqai e-Power became a new record holder.
Nissan decided on this move in order to promote the new Qashqai.
“This is the kind of bold and important challenge that we at Nissan really love. The brand has always shown the ability to innovate and change habits, and it did it boldly. The Qashqai has tried skateboarding, surfing, paintball and other exciting activities, and in the new campaign it will jumping from building to building. The idea of a bungee jump symbolizes the personality of the new Qashqai,” announced Nissan.
However, it should be noted that the highest bungee jump was seen in 1992, when the GMC Jimmy “flew” from a bridge in West Virginia, i.e. from a height of 263.7 meters. Also, on Top Gear, presenter Andrew Flintoff sat in a Rover Metro model while the car fell from the top of a 164 meter high dam.
So the question arises why the Qashqai is a record holder, and the answer is simple. Previous records were not monitored or verified by Guinness officials. The GMC Jimmy was filmed to promote the new model, while Top Gear performed the feat just for fun.
