The car company French Renaultwill develop a new economical electric city car for Nissan. The announcement was made by Nissan CEO Makato Uchida, who promised a price “palatable and accessible” for the new model.
Nissan’s future electric car will be based on the same platform as the new electric Renault Twingo, which is also under development. This project marks an important collaboration within the alliance Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishiaiming to expand the offering of affordable electric vehicles.
In addition to the Nissan city car, Ampere has been working on the new generation of the electric Micra since 2025 and to a compact SUV for Mitsubishi. Luca De Meo, CEO of Renault, said: “iThe project is working very, very well. We are within time and cost“, highlighting progress in reducing production costs for electric cars.
This new Nissan model will join the future electric Micra, continuing the tradition of the popular small car produced from 1982 to 2022. The objective is clear: to offer economical electric vehicles to accelerate the transition towards sustainable mobility.
