No more Dell Inspiron, XPS and Latitude

You can prepare for Dell Pro and Dell Pro Max laptops.

It has been a well-established practice among device manufacturers for quite some time to separate budget and high-end models in their product lines with “plus”, “pro” and “max”, which is believed to have become a sympathetic solution for Dell as well. The PC manufacturer announced at the CES expo in Las Vegas that it will purge many brand names from its portfolio, there will no longer be XPS, Inspiron, Latitude, Precision and OptiPlex laptops.

The suffixes of the previous series will simply be replaced by three main product lines for laptops and monitors:

the regular Dell, Dell Pro and Dell Pro Max series devices.

The slightly Apple-smelling solution is slightly shaded by the fact that the main product lines are nuanced with subcategories using the Base, Plus and Premium levels.

How this will sound in practice can already be tasted with the newly announced Dell Plus 32-inch 4K QD-OLED monitor and Dell Pro Premium laptops. Since laptops like the Dell Pro Premium are available in two sizes (13 and 14 inches), the size is also indicated in the full product name, the Dell Pro 13 Premium and Dell Pro 14 Premium will essentially be successors to the discontinued Dell Latitude laptops. The Dell XPS series present in the segment of premium laptops is replaced by the Dell Premium models at the Premium sub-level of the plain Dell line.

The comprehensive transformation of the system of brand names is a decisive step for the PC manufacturer, but this will not completely remove the names used so far, since they will remain on the devices already on the market, while the stock lasts, and for a little more time before the complete transition will be needed.
