No one expected such low sales. The beloved AAA game is a huge flop on iOS

  • Mobile phones are already considered a regular gaming platform
  • Their performance improves year by year and new games are added
  • One of the most anticipated is a sales fiasco

Resident Evil 7 hit iOS a few weeks ago

Whether we like it or not, gaming phones are considered a full-fledged gaming platform these days. The most visible in this direction is Apple, whose iPhones offer really brutal performance and big AAA brands such as Assassin’s Creed, Death Stranding or Resident Evil are now targeting iOS. Unfortunately, the last-named game is a sales failure for now.

Apple is not a competitor for consoles

At least for now. When Apple announced the arrival of big AAA games on iPhones, he surely promised more significant sales than what these games are showing. Current iPhones offer really high performance in this area and are graphically close to modern consoles, but players are not rushing to buy big games for the time being, showing that consoles and computers can stay calm.

One of the main factors that speaks against gaming on phones is of course the controls. Touch control via the display is nowhere near as convenient as a game controller or a keyboard + mouse combo, and even though external controllers can be connected to iPhones, the comfort of use is not as good. And to a large extent it is also due to the small display, which simply cannot replace a large monitor or a giant TV.

The beloved series is a flop on iOS

Resident Evil is one of the most popular game series ever, and when Resident Evil 7: Biohazard was announced for iOS, most users were excited. Unfortunately, the sales success of the game is absolutely miserable and according to the server MobileGamer her they bought only 2 thousand users, which can really be considered a fiasco.

The game was over iOS officially added on July 2nd and since then 83 thousand people have tried it for free. Of course, this does not mean that the same number of users have paid for it, because the game offers a free trial version, with the fact that you already have to pay for the full game. And only those 2,000 players switched from the free version to the full version for 20 euros (500 crowns).

Other parts are a bit better

The sales success of Resident Evil 7 is therefore absolutely dismal on iOS, and although the other parts of this series are doing a little better, it is definitely not for popping champagne. Resident Evil 4 Remake shows roughly 7 thousand sold copies and Resident Evil Village then 7.5 thousand. So, as it stands, there is no threat of an exodus of console and PC players to iOS for now.
