At the Nordic-Baltic summit in the Swedish Prime Minister’s residence in Harpsund, the heads of state and government from Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Iceland and Poland have agreed on a joint statement on Wednesday.
The countries promise increased support for Ukraine in the war against Russia:
– In the coming months, we will increase our support, also to Ukraine’s defense industry, and we will make more ammunition available to Ukraine, reads the joint statement, writes Sweden’s government website.
Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen (S) is attending the meeting in Sweden.
The summit is held as part of the Nordic-Baltic cooperation, NB8, and it is attended by the heads of state and government from Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. The Prime Minister of Poland, Donald Tusk, is also there.
– Ukraine’s courage and resilience will be supported by the strong and steadfast support of our countries, where military support is an important part. We encourage others to do the same, reads the statement.
The agenda at the meeting also includes the transatlantic relationship and security in the Baltic Sea.
