Kim described the Korean Peninsula as “the world’s biggest hot spot” in a speech to battalion commanders in Pyongyang on Friday, KCNA reported.
Kim also accused the United States and South Korea of raising global tensions to “the worst stage in history,” KCNA said.
On Saturday, the “Financial Times” newspaper, citing anonymous sources, reported that North Korea supports Russia’s war in Ukraine not only with soldiers and ammunition, but also with heavy artillery.
The information at the disposal of the British newspaper shows that in the last few weeks, about 50 self-propelled howitzers “M1989 Koksan” and almost 20 multi-charge reactive devices produced in North Korea have been delivered to Russia from North Korea.
The US State Department recently announced that thousands of North Korean troops are actively fighting alongside Russian forces against Ukrainian forces in the Kursk region on the Ukrainian border.
South Korean intelligence reports also indicate that North Korea has sent more than 10,000 troops to Russia, as well as supplying artillery ammunition to Russian forces.
The growing military cooperation between the two countries was reinforced by a recently signed agreement that includes a mutual defense pact.
