Swedish Northvolt is considering cooperation with Chinese battery company to strengthen production.
The Swedish battery manufacturer Northvolt has been in talks with Chinese companies for some time, including the battery giant Catl, writes Dagens Nyheter with reference to sources.
This goes against the original idea that Northvolt should not raise capital from China. The talks are described as in-depth and that it above all applies to Catl.
The newspaper has spoken to Greger Ledung, who is an expert at the energy authority, who is not surprised if a collaboration between the parties begins.
– If you have a problem with getting into production, the best thing you can do is team up with someone who has already succeeded in what you want to do, says Ledung and points out that a joint venture with a Chinese actor with production in Sweden is a well much better option than being dependent on Chinese imports.
