Norway’s Prime Minister, Jonas Gahr Støre, hopes that the Norwegian political environment as a whole will distance itself from Elon Musk, if the Tesla director were to interfere in political matters in the country.
That’s what Støre from the Labor Party (Ap) says in the program Politisk Kvarter on NRK.
Recently, Musk has, among other things, made very direct statements about British and German politics.
– I think it is worrying that a man with enormous access to social media and large financial resources goes so directly into relationships in other countries, says Støre.
– This is not how it should be between democracies and allies.
In the program, Støre was asked if he was worried about whether Musk would interfere in the next Norwegian election.
Elon Musk has received massive criticism in Germany for trying to influence the upcoming German election, which will be held on February 23.
Musk has expressed support for the right-wing AfD in a debate article in the German newspaper Welt am Sonntag and in a post on X.
The Norwegian Prime Minister hopes for a clear distancing if something similar were to happen in Norway.
– Should we see it in Norway, I hope and assume that a unified Norwegian political environment will warn against it and distance itself from it, says Støre.
In Great Britain, Elon Musk has attacked the sitting Prime Minister, Keir Starmer from Labour.
The attacks relate, among other things, to cases about gangs that have been unraveled in northern English cities in recent years.
Here, men, many of them of Pakistani origin, have committed assaults on girls.
The next election to the Storting is set for 8 September 2025. Støre himself is in a pressured situation, and NRK has learned from several sources that his position as AP leader is under internal discussion.
Musk, who is at the top of Forbes’ list of the world’s richest people, is extremely close to the Trump administration and has been put in charge of a department that, under the incoming president, must reduce public spending in the United States.
