“Not dumplings, but dichlorvos?”: parents of 4 children who died near Krasnoyarsk were interrogated

Investigators continue to clarify the circumstances of the death of four children in the Nazarovsky district of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, who were urgently hospitalized in the hospital in the afternoon, but died in a medical facility. As reported by the Investigative Directorate of Russia for the region, the cause of the poisoning is still being established.

Poisoning with an insect repellent is the priority version of the investigation, although previously it was believed that the children could have been poisoned by dumplings and chicken – the mother bought the products in the store, cooked them and fed them to the family.

Investigators, however, did not find toxic substances in these products. At the same time, traces of chemicals were found in the children’s bodies. They were also found on the fur of a domestic kitten, which also died.

According to the Kommersant newspaper, during the interrogation, the father of the family said that before the tragedy he personally treated the entire apartment with dichlorvos, having previously asked his wife to take a walk with the children on the street. The family returned home a few hours later. At the same time, the mother clarified that on that terrible day the children ate only store-bought dumplings, and she did not add any foreign substances when preparing food.

The police seized the dichlorvos that the father used and sent it for examination. According to experts, the children’s death could not have occurred as a result of dichlorvos vapor poisoning, but it is possible that the parents were sold a counterfeit.

Let us remind you that on September 21, a family of six from the village of Krasnaya Sopka was admitted to the hospital with signs of poisoning. Later, four children – a 13-year-old boy and girls aged 6, 11 and 12 – died. The parents were discharged a few days later. A criminal case has been opened. The investigation is ongoing.
