The residents of Ķemgarag have found themselves in a somewhat privileged situation – the Riga City Architect Service has developed a concept plan – a spatial development vision – for the center of this neighborhood, the first of 33 neighborhoods. The territory of the center of the Ķengaraga neighborhood includes the section of Latgales street from the Dole shopping center to the Ķengaraga park, extends to the Daugava promenade and includes territories belonging to the municipality on both sides of Latgales street. Since the territory is wide, the spatial development vision is divided into several zones with separate development projects, which are planned to be implemented sequentially in the coming years.
The public discussion of the Ķengarag concept plan will take place on July 31 at the Riga Central Library’s Daugava branch library, while written proposals can be submitted until August 2. The concept plan includes information that the residents’ opinions have been heard several times, for example, at last year’s Ķengarag neighborhood festival, a vote was held on the desired functions in the neighborhood center, and an informal discussion with neighborhood businessmen was held in December. The plan includes four sections: a vision of spatial development, an in-depth analysis of the current situation, a long-term action plan and a plan of investments and tasks for the next three years.
