Back in mid-March, Nothing released the Nothing Phone (2a), one of its most affordable phones, but the company isn’t stopping there, and now it looks like there will be a Nothing Phone (2a) Plus.
With its new post on X, the company shows an image of the Pokemon Mega Aerodactyl and then posted a (+) symbol. To some, this might seem like a decrypted message, but it’s actually a teaser for the soon-to-be-official Nothing Phone (2a) Plus.
As usual Nothing uses Pokemon creatures for its device codenames and the Phone (2a) was called Aerodactyl. In the Pokemon series, Mega Aerdoactyl is an evolved Aerodactyl. This pretty much suggests we’ll be seeing an upgraded Phone (2a) and with the + symbol in the post on X, we’re probably referring to the Nothing Phone (2a) Plus, or so we all think!
Also, this interpretation is confirmed by Indian mobile operator Jio, which has listed a Nothing Phone (2a) Plus in its database, as seen by Mukul Sharma below:
There have been no leaks on the Nothing Phone (2a) Plus specs or anything, but it’s possible that the phone will offer a stronger performance. The Phone (2a) already has a large screen (6.7 inches), so the Plus version is unlikely to be called Plus because of a larger screen. The Nothing Phone (2a) comes with the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Pro, which does quite well with simple tasks.
If the Phone (2a) Plus focuses on improving performance, it will become even more competitive next to competitors from Google, Motorola and OnePlus. We also don’t know much about its design, but one thing is for sure…. it will likely feature Nothing’s recognizable and interesting design.
