Nothing Phone (3a) and Nothing Phone (3a) Plus: They will have some interesting hardware changes

Main power source for Nothing Phone (2a) and Nothing Phone (2a) Plus are two MediaTek chipsetsbut their successors are already rumored to be moving to Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 by Qualcomm.

Now, a new report seems to confirm that move, based on evidence found inside the latest Nothing OS 3.0 builds running on top of Android 15. The Nothing Phone (3a) is codenamed “asteroids”, while the Nothing Phone (3a) Plus is codenamed “asteroids_plus”.

The CMF Phone 2 is also coming in 2025 and is codenamed “galaga”. This will apparently continue to use a MediaTek chip.

Surprisingly, the Nothing Phone (3a) might come with a telephoto camera, while the Nothing Phone (3a) Plus could take things up another notch with a periscope zoom camera. If this happens, then it will be the first phone from Nothing to have a periscope telephoto lens. These would also be the first Nothing phones with dedicated zoom cameras of any kind, as all previous Nothing phones have had dual camera setups using a main camera and an ultra-wide camera.

Moving on, the Phone (3a) and Phone (3a) Plus will also have eSIM support. It is possible to either use one physical SIM and one eSIM or two physical SIMs. The cheaper CMF Phone 2 will not have eSIM support.
