After presenting the fourth-generation Continental GT and GTC in June, Bentley today also presented the new fourth-generation Flying Spur, which, along with an improved design, also gets a new architecture and a plug-in hybrid V8 drive.
As the announcement says, it is the most powerful, dynamic and efficient four-door model in the brand’s 105-year history.
The plug-in hybrid drive has a combined output of 583 kW/782 hp and 1,000 Nm of torque, surpassing the figures of non-electrified V8 and W12 engines that are no longer produced.
The setup consists of a twin-turbo V8 petrol engine with 441 kW/600 hp and an electric motor that contributes another 140 kW/190 hp, and there are also 25.9 kWh batteries and an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Factory data says that acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is 3.5 seconds.
The total range is more than 800 km, while the EV range is 72 km according to the WLTP cycle.
The new Flying Spur uses an all-wheel drive system with torque vectoring, and there’s also four-wheel steering (available up to 22 inches), an electronically controlled LSD differential, a next-generation ESC system and air suspension with adaptive dampers.
Bentley engineers also improved sound insulation, added a more advanced infotainment system compatible with wireless connectivity and over-the-air upgrades.
The seats have a new design with 3D diamond stitching, and there are new graphics for the instruments.
In addition, the car will offer high-quality materials in a variety of colors and finishes, and owners can also gain access to more sophisticated personalization options from the Mulliner department.
